What is the Mile Wall?

Here’s all you could want to know About  the Mile Wall Project. If you have a question though e-mail questions@themilewall.com

What is the Wall?

The Mile Wall is a project to build the internet’s longest page. The page will stretch for 1 mile ( 1.6 km ) horizontally and be made entirely of public posted material. It will be the first, or at least one of the first, pages to go entirely horizontal for such an incredible distance. But that’s where you come in, The wall is to be made entirely out of the images, dedications, words, and movies, (see below for a full list of what’s possible to put on the wall), of as many people as possible to make the Mile Wall a diverse and truly amazing site. If it makes it the whole way I plan to submit it to the Guinness Book of World Records. If you ever wanted to be in the book but not have to endanger your life this is the way to do it. I’m selling the space on the wall to help pay for College and boost the income I make as a painter a little bit, they don’t exaggerate much when they say starving artist. at 1 dollar per square inch for an entire lifetime online its a real bargain, especially if you’re used to paying 1 dollar for a single pixel! I also plan to have the Mile Wall up permanently.  With your help this site can go down as one of the most unique and positively remarkable web sites in internet history.  So read what sort of thing you  can put on the Mile Wall and go to add your mark to start building!

Why Help Build the Mile Wall?

There are plenty of good reasons to help build the Mile Wall.

  1. Dedicate a permanent spot on the Wall to any person, cause, or anything else that matter. See the wall’s current dedications to get an idea.
  2. You can use the wall to promote yourself or your web site in anyway, Its advertising at its cheapest, Imagine paying 1 dollar for a lifetime of advertising on a site that will attract a wide range of audiences for years to come.
  3. You can pay as little as 1 measly dollar and have a permanent spot on the internet to post whatever you want! What is there to lose?
  4. You can post any image, flash movie, or  piece of writing on the wall for any reason. Basically you can post anything that expresses yourself, and have it be viewed by an enormous number of people everyday.
  5. You can help build a truly interesting web site that is not constantly bombarding you with ads proclaiming FREE!!
  6. You are helping to build a first for the internet, the longest web site, and perhaps even a world record!

What you can put on the Wall

The wall is open to just about anything you could possibly imagine as long as its tasteful. Some examples of things that belong on the wall are, dedications for what ever reason, self promotion of your web site/business. Artistic images, photographs, painting, writings etc. Flash movies and games, whether funny, or artistic, or for advertising purposes are allowed, again just nothing tasteless. Advertisers are allowed to post on the wall, but there are guidelines for what advertisements are acceptable. Basically no free offers, gambling, pornography or anything else which make the wall look dull and cliché.

The Mile Wall is going to be something that will last for a long time so I want it to have visual appeal, so that people will continue to visit it and enjoy it for years to come.

- Me doing a bit of fishing, yes I am a real person!

I started the Mile Wall partially as a entrepreneurial venture and also as a way to enrich the internet, and create something that would be long lasting and very entertaining.

If you want to know what I plan to do with the proceeds most will go to pay for college the other part will go to feeding my entrepreneurial spirit, and this web site. I would also like to help out my mom as she really deserves it.

The Mile Wall Goal

The goal of the Mile Wall is to build a single page one mile long in the shortest time possible. In reality I would like for the Mile Wall to continue on past a mile and stretch for ‘x’ number of miles, But for now I’m keeping my sights on the one mile limit. Another goal for this web site is to create a page that is partially based on advertising but does not have the normal annoying advertisements you see plastered on almost every web site you visit. The Mile Wall welcomes those with businesses that are of the beaten track and different. As I said before ads proclaiming ‘FREE’ are not welcome, because we all know nothing is really free.

Most importantly though I want this to be a web site that is fun to look at! I’ve already gotten a few really great looking things up on the wall and I hope for a lot more to come. So have fun and help build this remarkable website.

If I missed something that you would like to know e-mail questions@themilewall.com and I will get back to you asap!
